Chandler and Marissa

My cousin Chandler and and his beautiful Fiance, Marissa, (now wife) were married a couple of weeks ago and asked me to do their engagement pictures. I of course said I would, but only because she had an awesome name.

They are just babies! Babies, I tell you! But perfect for each other nonetheless. (I like that word, "nonetheless". You get three words in one. I'm weird). But of course we were their age when we got married. So I should shut my mouth.

There was much discussion of suspenders or no suspenders. I think I love the suspenders. They add a nice touch.

I'm pretty sure I think I love this one.

26 Weeks Pregnant

Today I am 26 weeks pregnant and feeling good. Only 98 days left until my due date. We are in the double digits! I can't believe how fast (for me anyway) time has gone by, and I know it will go even faster with the holidays and the new year approaching. We are so excited!

Things you may (or may not) care to know:

- I am a human garbage disposal. It's a fact.
- The baby is approximately the length of an English cucumber. (14 in. head to heel)
- She weighs approximately a pound and two-thirds.
- I have gained about 12 pounds. And it varies depending on when I weight myself. :)
- Her ears are much more developed now, so she can hear conversations I have with people. Kinda creepy.
- She is moving ALL OF THE TIME. And I love it.
- We are making progress on the nursery. BUT, we still have A LONG way to go.
- And lastly, Ryan and I are officially enrolled in several "New Parent Education Courses". I am actually quite excited about them! First up, Breastfeeding 101. (I know, get excited.) Next, Childbirth. And Lastly, Newborn Care. Can't wait!

I mean really, where did I get this guy?

Yesterday I was expressing to Ryan how concerned I was about my back fat. My belly seems to be squishing around my sides and to my back, if that makes sense. Lovely, I know. Anyway, so I was telling him about this, and he took a look for himself, pointed and said, "Oh yeah, right here?"

Mmk...word to the wise. Never EVER tell a pregnant lady she has back fat, even if you can see it with your own eyes, and she asks you to look. LIE TO HER! Sheesh, I mean really, where did I get this guy? :)

Thanksgiving

THE GOOD: We had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday this year. We spent our break with Ryan's parents and extended family. There were 15 humans, and 6 dogs. Yeah it was crazy, but it was so much fun. It was the first time that part of the family had all been together for the Thanksgiving holiday since Ryan was 2 or something like that. So it was very special.

The food was soooo good. I would have to say it was right up there with the Riggs Thanksgiving feast. There was goooooood food and lots of it! It was so good that I had seconds (well can you blame me? I'm eating for two here) and immediately after eating had to lay down for a nap. Now THAT is good food :) And I may or may not have had another plate later that evening and two plates of leftovers the next day. And a hamburger. And cake and icecream. Don't judge.

Ryan of course hunted every chance he got. He's hunted during Thanksgiving break his whole life, why stop now, right? I went with him once, (I love going) and decided it would have to be my last time until the baby gets here. Talk about exhaustion! Geez! I am starting to realize my limits with this pregnancy. It is crazy to me how I can do something one week, and the next I can't. It was too hard for me physically to do what I needed to do this time. But, you bet your bottom I'll be back out there as soon as I can!

THE BAD: On the way back to College Station on Sunday we were involved in a 7 car pile up on I-45 just outside of Buffalo, TX. It was pretty scary, but no one was hurt in any of the cars so that is a blessing. Our dogs were in the back seat asleep when it happened, and I looked back to see if they were okay, and poor Bella had been thrown to the floor board looking at me like, "WHAT THE??!!" It was so sad. They were so good to be in the car an extra 2 hours while we were parked on the side of the road figuring things out. Anyway, our car got pretty messed up, but it could have been worse of course, and I'm glad that it wasn't. We are lucky that our only car is still drivable, it just looks nasty. I'd say I'm about done driving back and forth to Dallas. Mom, Dad, Bill, Cherie...you come see us!!! :)

Hope everyone had as nice of a Thanksgiving as we did.

Now it's time for Christmas!

Little Miss Squishy Face

We are so lucky to have this little girl join our family. We named her Bella. She is such a fun, smart, stubborn little girl (takes after Sophie for sure) and she is already best friends with Roxie.

Meet Bella!

Run, Ryan, Run!

On Saturday Ryan ran his very first ultra-marathon race. An ultra-marathon is anything over the distance of a traditional marathon of 26.2 miles. (I didn't know that.)

The Rocky Raccoon 50k Trail Run in Huntsville is the race Ryan ran this weekend. It was his first race and furthest he had ever ran and he did AWESOME. He placed 10th out of 120 runners. 10th!!!!! He finished the race in 4 hours 40 minutes. He has worked so hard since March of this year to get in shape so it was a great accomplishment. So proud of you Ry.

Photobucket
Here he is crossing the finish line after 31 miles, like it ain't no thang...

Ryan's uncle Brett ran the race with him, making it his 31st 50k race. (There are 31 miles in 50 kilometers so that was pretty cool). He has completed almost 50 ultra-marathons! THAT is awesome if you ask me.
Photobucket
Brett crossing the finish line after 31 miles. Great job Brett!

Don't let the pictures deceive you. The course consisted of very little concrete. It was a TRAIL run. Like a hiking trail. Yeah. A lot different than a road race.

Photobucket
After the race. Nasty sweaty men.

And here's Roxie, their number two fan. (I'm their number one.)

Sir Jaxen

My cousin and her husband have a little boy that just turned 2 and he is ALL BOY. They are such a cute little family of 3. Love you guys so much.

Their son is the definition of adorable. And seriously, he has more personality than most adults I know.

Do we have a future male model on our hands? Or is that just a little "terrible two attitude" that I'm seeing?

I am doing holiday mini-sessions (great for Christmas cards!) until the middle of December, so if you are interested email me at marissabassham@gmail.com

Drum Roll Please.....

.......... I would like to announce to the wonderful world of blogging that we are having a......

.....GIRL:) And you'll just have to take our word for it because I'm not posting "the" picture. But here are some other one's that were kind of fun.

Her cute little profile.

Chubby little hand.

This picture shows a few things. The bottom of her left foot, her hand and arm covering her face, her elbow to her knee, and her long skinny right leg.

I'm surprised at how many people got it right on the poll! Way to go you 71%! How did you know?! Or was it just lucky guessing????

We are seriously BEYOND excited to have a little girl. And yes, for the record, Ryan is ECSTATIC! He is going to be such an awesome dad. Right after the sonogram we headed straight to Target to buy an outfit or two for our little girl, just to make it fun. Right now her clothes are neatly laying on Ryan's dresser (since we haven't even starting to think about the baby's room), and he so sweetly pats the little clothes every time he walks by them.

We felt all along that it was going to be a girl, so now that we have the proof, we are just so thankful and so happy. She is a pretty active little squirt, especially at night when it feels like there is a boxing match in my belly. Pretty fun, and weird.

So, bring on the pink!!!! We couldn't be happier.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch to pick out a few pumpkins again this year. I think this will be one of our little family traditions. I was watching all of the little kiddos running around us, picking out just the right pumpkin before someone else claimed it. Looked like they were having fun. We brought Roxie with us this year and she quite liked it I think.

We got 3 small-ish sized pumpkins and 2 itty-bitty pumpkins all for 7 bucks. Not bad my friends.

Ryan thought it would be funny to take this picture. My belly isn't going to get this big is it????

Photobucket
A warty pumpkin. I thought it was weird. And warty.

No, No, Ryan. Put the pumpkin down. :)

Happy girl. I think she sniffed every pumpkin there.

It's Friday!

Fridays are good for me. It's the last day of the working week, dress casual at work day, and it means the weekend is finally here! And I live for weekends!

So, what's on my mind this lovely, and BEAUTIFUL I might add, Friday afternoon?

In no particular order of importance...
- President Obama is coming to Texas A&M this afternoon. I don't care to see him.
- 7 more days until we find out what we are having. These will be the slowest 7 days ever!
- 7 more days until my 24th Birthday.
- I need to get my driver's license renewed, and I am really excited about it because the current picture is hideous! (The word hideous is to be said in the voice of the skinny sidekick on Nacho Libre.)
- I am looking forward to the drive to my parents tonight. Ryan and I always have fun on our road trips. We usually get hopped up on sugar. Anyway, we are hanging out in the "Big D" this weekend. Should be fun.
- Our Beta fish is slowly committing suicide. He wont eat and I don't know why! I don't want him to die, but I doubt he lasts through the weekend:(
- I am eating goldfish right now. Yum.
- My cousin, Derek, got his mission call like an hour ago... and in case he hasn't told everyone yet, I will refrain from announcing the location. But it is VERY COOL! We are very excited for him! He leaves Dec. 16.

That's all.

Happy Friday everyone!

One Year Older and Wiser too...

...Happy Birthday to you!

Ryan's birthday was on Tuesday and I must say, he just gets more handsome with each year that passes.

Wow, that was sappy.

I, very sadly, did not take one stinking picture of the birthday boy on his actual birthday, so a most recent one will have to do.

Us, at Eddy and Miken's Texas wedding reception.

Ryan, I can't believe I've known you since we were 14. Ten birthdays celebrated together. I love you so so much, and really, you are so handsome. Happy Birthday.

Updated Puppy Pics

Here are pictures of the puppies at 3 1/2 weeks old. They are almost 4 1/2 weeks now so they are growing, growing, growing and get cuter and more agile every day. I just want to eat them they are so cute.

If you are interested in buying a puppy, let me know and I can get you more information about pricing, etc. They will be ready to take home at 8 weeks, which will be around the first week of November.
