Our kiddos

Thought I would post some pictures of Roxie and Smokey. Roxie wasn't feeling so good the other day. She wanted to snuggle with me, and ended up falling asleep laying on top of me. So cute, but so heavy!

She has also out grown her doggie bed. She fits in it only if she curls up, but she usually sprawls out. When she lays on our couch she sprawls out, nose at one end, tail at the other. It's her couch, not ours.

Little Miss Priss is doing well too. She is much more tolerable of Roxie. It's fun to watch them interact. They can actually lay by each other now and get along. It has taken almost a year for that to happen! UGH! She likes sit on our towel rack and our hamper and watch us get ready.

Carnival

I haven't been to a carnival is YEARS and so I was excited to be apart of our first Ward Carnival this past Saturday. Although I didn't get to slide down the huge bouncy slide that the inner child in me was so desperately yearning for, I did enjoy painting the faces of MANY children. I painted butterflies, hearts, stars, rainbows etc. I had many requests for dragons as well, but come on...I don't know how to paint a freaking dragon. Anyway, it was fun to talk with the kids, they really do say some funny things. For instance, a little boy probably 5 years old, sat in the chair next to me and our conversation went something like this:

Me: "Hi! what would you like me to paint on your face?"
Little Boy: "Um well I was thinking that I would like a black widow spider."
Me: "OOO a spider! I can do that. Spiders a scary."
Little Boy: "Yeah, not really."
Me: "Well, I'm scared of them. So don't black widow spiders have a red dot on them?" (I know that they do, I was just trying to make conversation with the guy.)
Little Boy: "Yeah, they do."
Me: "Do you know where the dot is? Is it on its belly or on its back?"
Little Boy: "Actually, it is on its abdomin."

I was impressed that he even knew that word! We all had a good laugh, as I proceeded to paint the red dot on the black widow's abdomin, duh. Thanks, little boy, for correcting me.

I laughed so hard when I saw this picture. It looks like I am choking this cute little girl, but I'm not, I promise.A satisfied customer.

Ryan was in charge of the little petting zoo at our humble little carnival. He dressed the part by wearing his cowboy attire. People kept asking him, "Ryan, where did you get the costume? You really look the part!" To which he would reply, "Well, I actually dress like this all the time." Pretty funny. The petting zoo was complete with dogs, a pony and a monkey! The kids really enjoyed themselves. And I have to admit, it was my favorite attraction as well.

Great minds think alike...

On most days, okay I lied, EVERY day Ryan leaves our apartment for work or school before I even wake up. Most of the time I don't even look at him because my eyes are closed, duh I'm sleeping, much less remember him leaving. He gives me a kiss for the day, and he says that I usually mumble some kind of giberish as he walks out the door. This morning was no different. So this morning, after Ryan left, I got up and got dressed and I put on my Deathray Davies T-shirt. Of course I think nothing of it. I proceed to clean our place, get some errands and some grocery shopping done etc. etc. Much to my surprise when Ryan walked through the door after he got home from work, he was wearing HIS Deathray Davies T-shirt!!! We were twinkies all day and we didn't even know it hahaha. This is proof that great minds think alike:):)

Jennika so kindly tagged me. There are quite a few of these surveys going around so I kind of combined questions from several differnt ones. I included some pictures of us from back in the day and some wedding pictures, so enjoy!!
How long have you been married? 10 months.
How long did you date? 7 LONG years....we started "dating" in 8th grade...I wouldn't even call it dating...more like "hanging out".

Who eats more sweets? I think we both have a weakness for anything sweet. We both especially like ice cream and/or chocolate. A combination of the two is never turned down.
Who said I love you first? Gosh, i don't even remember. I think I did probably.
I think we were sophmores in highschool in this picture, maybe juniors.

How old is he? 22. He is 17 days older than me.
Who is taller? Ryan is by just a few inches. he is 5' 10" and I am 5' 7".
Who is smarter? Depends on what subject. If Ryan wants to learn about something...he LEARNS about it. But, I think that I have the "book smarts". Ryan does too when he applies himself:):):)
What is his favorite dessert? ICE CREAM or my chocolate chip cookies.
Who can sing better? I grew up singing, so I would say that I am. I think my mom had this dream of having our family be a traveling singing group so that we could share our talents with the whole world. OBVIOUSLY that did not happen. Believe me, it is a good thing:) Ryan is actually a pretty good singer in the shower:)

Who pays the bills? That would be me.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Ryan does. It is the side that is closest to the bedroom door. I have always heard that the man is suppose to sleep closest to the door, so in case a booger man breaks in, the man can protect the woman. So I guess we'll have to change it up as we move homes.

Who mows the lawn? A lawn crew. When we have a house, I imagine Ryan will do it.
Who cooks dinner? ME! If you know me at all, you know I love to cook. Ryan actually can make really good breakfast foods.
Who drives? We both do. When we take my car, I drive most of the time. Ryan drives his truck because it's stick. It's scary to drive it in the city. It's fun driving it in the country though where I don't have to worry about other cars.
Who is more stubborn? Hmmm...we are both pretty dang stubborn.
Who kissed who first? Ryan kissed me.
Who asked who out? Ryan is the one who officially asked me to be his girlfriend. He actually asked me at the movie theater in the middle of a REALLY scary movie. It was a really scary scene and he leaned over and asked me to be his girlfriend. Weird timing. I guess he couldn't wait.
Who proposed? Ryan did. He asked me in a parking garage. It's a LONG STORY...it wasn't suppose to happen that way. It definately wasn't the romantic proposal that I had rehursed in my head since I was like 5 years old...but it was sweet, and we laugh about it now:) How many kids do you have/want? I think we want 4.
Who has more siblings? I do. I have one sister, Mandy. Ryan is an only child.
Who wears the pants? Honestly, we each wear one leg. We keep each other in line so it seems to be pretty balanced.

Spring Break...over already??

We can't believe the week is over. It went so fast! Although Ryan still had to work, we were able to squeeze some fun in. Thursday we traveled to Houston and went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We had a great time walking, shopping, talking and the weather was really nice so that was bonus.

Danni came in town for the rest of the weekend. We enjoyed having her. With her, she brought her Wii. SO FUN. Ryan and I had never played it before, and it was surprisingly so much fun. Thanks so much for bringing it with you Danni! The weekend wouldn't have been quite the same without it:) I am actually thinking about getting a Wii, I would really have to talk Ryan into it though and I'd have to definately have plant a money tree or something. Cuz they aren't cheap. I never thought I would be asking Ryan if I could get a game system. I definately saw it the other way around:)

Roxie is just hanging out with Danni here. And you might notice that Roxie is wearing a diaper. It is true. Roxie became a woman this week but she is quite fashionable with her denim fashionista bottoms.

Horton Hears a Who

Loved this movie! The Horton Hears a Who movie definately gets two thumbs up from me. I grew up absolutely loving the original cartoon so I was so excited for this movie to come out. The new movie was short, only like 80 minutes or so, so it was even enjoyable and not too much for those of you that said, "eh" when you heard about the movie. Go see it, it's cute. Bonus: it will have you leaving with love in your heart for people of all sizes. Afterall, a person's a person, no matter how small:)

to take you back...

Ryan will have been home for an entire year from his mission in Ecuador this Thursday, March 13. That totally blows my mind!!! I cannot believe it has been a whole year! Well, needless to say, I am super duper grateful to have him around, especially this week, as I think of what life used to be like without him. So, Ryan, just know that I am so so SO thankful to be your wife. Those two years were, without a doubt, the HARDEST two years of our lives. And I'm so glad that we endured it together. I know you absolutely loved your mission and miss it so much, so here are a few pictures to take you back. :) I love you...

Lonely...but a good day...

So, Ryan is in Houston today and tomorrow. Blah. He has to work at the Houston Livestock Show for his boss as a translator for all of the spanish speaking folks that walk by their booth. I think he is enjoying being able to brush up on his Spanish, since I obviously do not speak it.

You might guess that I am bored out of my mind. It's true. However, aside from my boredom and loneliness from my lack of husband-ness:(, today was actually an okay day. I got a lot done and ran quite a few errands.

I purchased a paper shredder like the one in the picture at the local Office Depot, and I love it! I've had a stack of papers that have been haunting me for months, so it felt good to see the stack disappear. I even shredded papers that didn't need to be, just cuz I was having so much fun, and yes, because I was bored.

I spent a rediculous amount of time in Hobby Lobby today. I went in for 2 items....and I came out with about 15 items. I need help. Anyway, I needed some way to organize my card-making paper, so I got this cute box. Mine is actually a bigger version of it, so it holds my 12x12 paper. So cute. Now my hobby that has been taking over our kitchen table, is contained to this little box.

I also made the HUGE decision to have my engagement ring and wedding band separated. I had them saudered shortly after we were married, but lately I have been wishing they were separated again. So, I did it. It is at the jewelry store as I type. Now when I get them back I'll wear them as separate rings. I think I'm happy with my decision. Having them spearated makes the center stone look even bigger. And what girl doesn't want a bigger-looking ring...I mean come on!! It will look like the picture below again:):) can't wait:)

Capital F-U-N!

Going back to Dallas is usually fun, but this weekend was fun to the MAX! Jared and Tyan came along with us and I would dare say that the weekend wasn't any short of AWESOME.

If you are ever en route to and/or from Dallas then take a pit stop in the humble town of Centerville, just off highway 45. You'll thank us. Woody's Smokehouse, who claims to be the Jerky Capital of the World, is a one of a kind place. (Personally I think it should be changed to the Jerky Capital of the Universe...but that's just my opinion.) Go ahead, check it out. We've got Jared and Tyan just drooling for it.

Friday evening, the four of us went to the Mavericks game. We had a great time, and it's always nice when the Mavs win. Saturday morning, the 12 year old's in Ryan and Jared emerged and they went to a sporting card shop. However, while I think and hope this is a silly fad, I will say that it is pretty exciting when Ryan found a card that he has had since he was a little boy that is now worth $100. Anyway, that could be a whole 'nuther post of its own. So while the boys were off playing, us girls had more important things to do. Shopping! Well, sorta. My mom, Tyan and I went to my Uncle Gary's furniture store, Gary Riggs Interiors, to be "inspired". While all three of us put together probably couldn't afford anything in there (that's why I say shopping sorta), it was still fun to "OOooo" and "Ahhh" over everything in his store. He has absolutely amazing and truely unique pieces throughout his whole store. I can honestly say there isn't anything on his showroom floor that I dislike. It is all beautiful. Saturday afternoon we had the AWESOME experience of trap shooting. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my whole life. Tyan's aunt, who owns and operates Elm Fork Shooting, personally gave us a lesson on the proper way of shooting. What made it so awesome was that she was the first woman in history to win the Western Trap Shooting Championship. So she knows what she is doing!!! We got to shoot skeet for a good 2 1/2 hours with hands on instruction. It was so fun!!!!

That night my mom and dad cooked a yummy dinner for us. We had ribs and all the fixins to go with it. Thanks so much for doing that for us. It turned out great! Bill and Cherie were able to come as well as both sets of my grandparents.

After an amazing spaghetti lunch at Bill and Cherie's on Sunday, we hit the road back to College Station. It seemed like we were missing something though...like a cat maybe. JARED! :)
